Rusten Kaasik
(b.2007) is a 14-year-old boy with Asperger's syndrome, whose perception of the world and the environment around him is sensitive and unique. Rusten studies at school through individualized learning and is partially homeschooled. His art lessons are supervised by his artist parents Maris Aare and Jaanus Kaasik: "At the age of five, Rusten did not have clear speech, and drawing pictures and diagrams was a means of communication to make himself understood. Now, engaging in art is a necessary form of self-expression. Co-creation provides opportunities to think about the world, explain things, and make connections. The idea of making an exhibition of the collaborative creations matured when we opened our studio store, Karud ja Pojad, together with an art gallery, which was named R gallery, inspired by Rusten. The works selected for the exhibition have been created by experimenting with and combining different techniques, inspiring and motivating each other, and constantly gradually pushing the boundaries. We invite you to see the exhibition and experience our playful, detailed world until the end of October."
The exhibition was supported by the Tartu Cultural Endowment
